hair relaxer update

Hi dearies,
Sorry for being off blogging for months, really missed y'all. I relaxed my hair on saturday 10th October 2015 after 4 months stretch. But a night to my relaxer date, I prepare my hair by conditioning it  with Organics hair mayonnaise and sealed the strands with mixture of coconut oil and castor oil . My hair feels so soft after these treatment.
Fast forward to my hair relax day, I went to a hair salon because I find it difficult to relaxed the hair myself. I made sure that the relaxer don't sit for more than 15 mins as instructed in Profectiv mega growth relaxer.

I rinse off the relaxer with profectiv neutralising shampoo and conditioner respectively. Finally, I air dried my hair and can't really determine the length because it's not stretch with flat iron. I want to avoid heat for now. My next blog will be on my protein treatment to strengthen my strands weaken abit by relaxer. Do have a wonderful day. Love you!

Deep condition with avocado fruit

Hi friends,
It's being 7 weeks post-relaxed my hair. Today I am deep conditioning my hair with avocado with other oils. Before I start, let's talk about the nutrient benefits of avocado to our hair.

Avocado for hair growth

I did a little research online and discover that avocado fruit has what our hair needs to stimulates hair growth as well as prevents excessive hair loss. They repair damage hair or dry hair by acting as a moisturizer to soften the hair strands. Avogado are known to contain vitamin B and E.

Recipe used in avocado deep conditioner

  • 1 avocado fruit

  •  Coconut oil
  • Olive oil
  • Argan oil
  • Honey

Procedure
  • Mix honey and other oils together and warm slightly.
  • Add the avocado into the oil mixture and blend until I achieved my desired consistency.

  • I shampoo my hair with VO5  2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner.

  • I swap my hair with cotton t-shirt to absorb excess water for 10 minutes.
  • Applied the avocado mixture the same way I apply my relaxer but in this case from the scalp to the hair tip.

  • Cover my hair with a shower cap and allow to sit for an hour without heat. You can use steamer for a fast deep conditioning for 30 minutes.
  • I wash it off with a generous amount of water, condition with ORS detangling conditioner.
  • I dry with a cotton shirt to absorb dripping water for 20 minutes.
  • Allow to air dry throughout the night.
My hair feels so soft and silky. Sorry for not sharing the after pix because I was so tired and had to sleep. I am happy to be able to manage my new growth once again. I hope you'all will try this one day. For others who had done this procedure will agree with me that avocado is a good natural moisturizer not only for our hair but can be used for our face or skin. Hope you enjoyed today's deep conditioning. Do have a blessed day. Takia

Thinning edges

Hi dear,
It's being a while. Today we are discussing on thinning edges. I am also a victim of thinning or damaged hair edges. Our edges are the most fragile part of our hair.  Any woman can experience thinning, breaking, or balding edges. It’s not just women who are relaxed, wear weave, or are older. There are numerous reasons why your hairline can thin. Hair loss is not confined to men alone but also occurs in women too. Frequent touching these area will cause more damage to our edge by straining them. There are various factors that could cause thinning of our hair edges.

Causes of thinning edges

Wearing tight hair styles

When you wears too frequently hair style such as weaves(corn row), tight pony tail, using glue in lace front weavon, tight or micro braiding. These style pulls our edges, weaken it and pull the hair strands off from the root.

fine fragile hair strains

Having a fine hair line can be prone to hair breakage at the edges. It's advisable to gentle hair styling and maintenance.

Genetic
some thinning edges are hereditary.

Post partum sheddingFrequent  after child's birth

Mothers tend to experience hair loss few months after child's birth or breast feeding due to hormonal changes.

Certain health conditions such as iron deficiency, anemia, hypothyroidism, weight less or hormone imbalance.

How to prevent thinning edges

  • Massage the edges with hair growth stimulating oils such as coconut, avocado oil, castor oil etc.
  • Regular hair protein treatment.
  • Avoid any hair styles that strain your hair at the edges.
  • Take hair supplements.
  • Sleep with satin cap or pillow case.
  • Avoid brushing your hair often but apply protective gel at the edge.
  • Eat balance diet.
  • Drink enough water.
  • Regular exercise to increase blood flow in the scalp.

Home remedy for itchy scalp

Happy new month dearies,
My last post is about the oils to be use to remedy itchy scalp. There are other homemade products in our homes that can also  stop itchy scalp. They works like magic but it is important to mild shampoo and deep condition your hair afterwards.

The home remedy for itchy scalp

  1. Baking soda: it helps to relief itching by exfoliating the scalp. It is done by making a paste baking soda and water. Please make sure you oil your scalp before applying because baking soda can strip hair oil and makes it too dry. Leave on your hair between 10-20 minutes and rinse with water.
  2. Apple cider vinegar: apart from ACV being used as food preservation , it also has a powerful anti-inflammatory properties. It has anti-viral, bacterial and fungus properties. Also ACV balances the pH level of the scalp which helps to relief itching. Firstly rinse the hair with water, mix 2:1 ratio of water and ACV respectively. Apply the mixture to the scalp with cotton ball. Leave for few minutes and shampoo with normal water.
  3. Lemon juice, it's is highly anti-oxidative agent due to its anti-septic property. Extract a fresh lemon juice, apply it to your scalp with cotton ball. Leave for 5 minutes before washing your hair with mild shampoo and condition.
  4. Avocado and banana: they help to remove dead cells flakes on the scalp due to their nourishing and moisturizing property. It prevents itching by conditioning your hair and scalp. Take two ripe banana and one rip avocado, smash them to form a paste. Apply to your damp hair and  rinse after 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  5. Aloe Vera gel: it contains moisturising and has anti-fungal, anti- bacterial and antiseptic properties. Aloe Vera also has a cooling effect on the itchy scalp. Extract the aloe Vera juice and massage it to the scalp. Shampoo after 30 minutes and condition.
Please note use any of these home recipes continously until the scalp itching stops. Thanks for having you here. Take care and have a nice day.
